Delete Account Hotmail – Everyone has their own unique reasons why they might want to delete an account on Hotmail. What’s important to realize though, is that deleting your account is permanent – all of your emails, related accounts and information will be gone forever (unless you back it up first), and you can’t reactivate or recover a deleted account.
Delete Account Hotmail
There are a few alternatives, depending on the reason you want to delete your Hotmail account. For example, if you want to delete it to get a new, more professional sounding one, you can just use alias email addresses and keep your same account. If you just never use it, you can use it as your “junk” email account and use when you have to register for something that you don’t actually want to register for (like when you want to get an auto insurance quote and have to give your email address, for example).
But if you really want to delete your Hotmail account, and anything that is connected to it (e.g. OneDrive, Xbox Live, etc.), it is possible. Here’s how to do it.
How to delete your Hotmail account
First, sign in to Hotmail with the account you want to delete. In the upper right-hand corner is your profile picture (or the default image), which will open a small menu when you click on it. Choose “view account”. Go to the “security & privacy tab” (on the far right of the blue menu at the top), and under the heading “account security”, click on the link to “more security settings”.
At this point, you may be asked for verification using your secondary email or phone number. If so, follow the steps to verify your identity.
Now that you can see all the security settings, scroll all the way down to the heading “close your account”, and click on the link below it to delete your account from Hotmail permanently. Follow any on screen steps to confirm.
