Create an Outlook account. Outlook may seem like a fairly new name, but the truth is that Outlook is just what Hotmail has evolved onto: a combination of most of Microsoft browser features combined under one single account. If you want to create an Outlook account, either for emailing, calendar, using it for Skype or keeping track of your contacts, then just carry on reading!
Create Outlook account
First things first: you are going to need to access Outlook’s website: www.outlook.com. Once you are there, you will be greeted with a blue-themed window with quite a professional look. Several of Outlook’s applications will be featured there, which would give you a great chance to explore them even before creating the Outlook account.
When you are ready, go back to the top of the page and search for 2 buttons, one saying “sign up” and the other saying “sign in”. You are going to need to click the one saying “sign up” (aka the one on the left) and this will then redirect you into a different website where you will be asked to complete a series of questions with personal answers (don’t worry, the questionnaire is not very long!).
Now that you have reached this point, it is worth saying that you should answer honestly to all the questions that are asked to you. This may not seem important at the time, but if your name, surname and username are funny now, they may not be that funny in a few years when you need to use this same email account to apply for a job, for example. Also remember to choose a password that you can remember in the future!
After that, a couple of general questions are asked: what is your date of birth, gender and country. These are mere formalities, and purely used for statistical purposes. The key questions come right after: phone number and an alternative email address.
This may be your first email account, or it may not. If it is, I would recommend putting a trustworthy person’s email account as the alternative email account, as this would be extremely useful in case your Outlook account was hacked. Same goes for your phone number, as Outlook could help you recover your account with it.
The very last bit is introducing the captcha at the very bottom of the page and clicking on the button that says “create account”. It is a simple process that should not take you more than 5 minutes.
